OUTING DESCRIPTION AND ITINERARY: A lazy 8 mile float from the Highway 77 bridge South of Davis to the Dougherty bridge.

FEES AND COSTS:

Outing fee is $5 for members. $10.00 for non-members. The fee is payable upon sign-up.

Canoe rental is $15.00 per person, $30.00 per canoe.  A third person in a canoe is $5.00.

If you have plans about who and  how many you are planning to have in your canoe, or if you are bringing your own canoe, please let me know before the 17th.  Otherwise, I will assume 2 persons per canoe  when letting the outfitter know how many canoes we need. If you don’t have plans, we can pair up on the way down or at the outfitter.

If car-pooling, you must contribute to the transportation costs incurred by the driver. Current guidelines are for each rider to pay 4 cents per mile to the driver. Round-trip distance on this trip is approximately 160 miles. That's $6.40.

TRANSPORTATION:

Transportation to and from the trailhead is not part of the outing. Every person is ultimately responsible for his/her own travel. However, the Sierra Club does encourage carpooling to conserve energy and promote camaraderie.  Don’t be bashful, the trip is half the fun!

CAR POOL & CARAVAN DEPARTURE:

All car pool and caravan arrangements should be made in advance of the outing.

The car caravan will be leaving from the North parking lot of OCCC at 7777 S. May Ave. at 8:00 am Saturday.

DIRECTIONS TO THE OUTFITTER:

We should be at the outfitter by  9:30 am.

Canoe rental will be at Rose Grocery 580-369-2223.

From Oklahoma City take I-35 South the Turner Falls Exit. Turn north (left) on Highway 77 approximately 1 mile to Rose Grocery on the West Side of 77.   The drive is approximately one and a half-hours.

EQUIPMENT

Life vests and paddles are furnished by the outfitter.   Lunch, dry clothes and other items should be packed watertight and secured to the canoe with straps or rope that you bring.

FOOD:

We will stop for snacks on the way, probably at the Loves in Pauls Vally.  If we take our time on the river, we will be there for lunch and you will  want to pack something.

It is recommended that you carry at least two quarts with you.

Sierra Club outings are held rain or shine! So be prepared for rain!
